African growth

A platform conceived for phased development and long-term expansion.

01 / Our purpose

More than a facility.
A connected future.

Project Green is conceived as an integrated platform, bringing solar generation, energy storage, gas, hydrogen and carbon utilisation into a connected development concept.

The proposed pathway combines power generation, hydrogen production and methanol synthesis, with green methanol intended for domestic use and export. Bringing these elements together allows the project to consider energy supply, production and infrastructure as parts of one system.

Our ambition is to translate that system into lasting value: a pathway for cleaner industry, opportunities for Nigerian people and businesses, and a platform capable of growing through successive development phases.

  1. 2024 – 2025

    Studies, partnerships & FEED

    Define the opportunity.

Establish the technical and commercial foundation: project studies, partner engagement and front-end engineering design (FEED). This work defines the proposed system and the assumptions that later decisions depend on.

    PROPOSED OUTCOMEA defined development basis

  2. 2026 – 2027

    Final investment decision

    Commit to the next chapter.

Bring engineering, financing and commercial arrangements together for a final investment decision (FID). Progression depends on the required approvals and the project meeting the conditions for investment.

PROPOSED OUTCOMEAn investment decision, informed by due diligence

  3. 2027 – 2030

Phase 1 construction · Akwa Ibom

Turn the plan into a place.

The projected first construction phase brings the integrated energy and methanol facilities into physical form in Akwa Ibom, alongside the infrastructure required to connect the production pathway.

PROPOSED OUTCOMEPhase 1 facilities prepared for commissioning

  4. 2030

    Stage 1 commercial operations

    Begin a new energy journey.

The roadmap targets the start of commercial operations for Stage 1, following commissioning and the necessary operational readiness checks. This is the transition from developing the project to producing and supplying product.

PROPOSED OUTCOMEA proposed first stage of commercial production

  5. 2030 – 2032

    Phase 2 expansion · Benue

    Extend the opportunity.

The proposed second phase extends the platform to Benue. Its scope and timing depend on further engineering, infrastructure planning, approvals and financing, informed by the development of Phase 1.

PROPOSED OUTCOMEA second location within a connected platform

  6. 2032+

    Long-term scale

    Build for a wider horizon.

The longer-term roadmap envisages growth towards 1.2 million metric tonnes per year of methanol capacity. This is a projected ambition for the platform, subject to the development and funding of future phases.
